FAI Junior Cup 2nd Round
Mixed fortunes for Kerry sides in the FAI Junior with six teams advancing to the next round .
Mitchels Avenue went down in extra time against the Desmond League Premier league leaders Rathkeale . Lorcan Seymour gave the home side an early leady but was cancelled out midway through the first half before Sean o Reilly put them back in front with a great strike from long range . Rathkeale levelled matters with twenty minutes remaining and it became a real uphill battle for the home side when they were reduced to ten men when Jeffery Roche received his second yellow card attack from Rathkeale with Chris Hegarty making some great saves to keep the Avenue alive . With only five minutes remaining Rathkeale took the lead . Mitchels responded brilliantly when Lorcan Seymour won the race to a long ball over the top and rolled it passed the keeper to send the game to extra time . In extra time Rathkeale made the extra man count and the home side bow out but can keep their heads held high .
Tralee Athletic travelled to Ennis and picked up the win off the day when they defeated Ennis Town to make it into the third round . Tralee Athletic took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to a Luke Reidy goal however the lead only lasted six minutes . Jason Quirke restored Tralee Athletic’s lead on the half hour mark but yet again it was cancelled out this time in injury time before the half time break . The winning goal came from Breandain Savage in the 83rd minute in a game where Eoin Sugrue was man of the match .
Spa Road Celtic found themselves two goals down at half time against Killeaney from the Desmond League . At half time the visitors made a few changes as they had GAA Commitments back home and played the remainder of the game with ten men . Spa Road took full advantage of this and goals from Brendan Sweeney and Danny Roche took the game to extra time . Killeaney struck for the winning goal midway through the first period of extra time .
An all Kerry tie saw St Brendans Park advance at the expense of Castleisland Afc . Con Barrett opened the scoring with an amazing over head kick in the first half . Jesse o Sullivan doubled the away sides lead early in the first half . Sean Brosnan pulled one back before Jesse o Sullivan secured the Parks place in the next round with his second .
Mastergeeha went out at the second round stage went they were just beaten by Bridge United . Damien Breen put Mastergeeha ahead but it was all level by half time . Bridge struck for to early goals in the second half and Mastergeeha gave themselves a lifeline when Derek Breen but they were unable to get an equaliser .
The big game in Kerry between Tralee Dynamos and Killarney Celtic never really lived up to the expectations as they cancelled each other out for long periods which is what normally happens with two big sides meet . James Sugrue gave Tralee Dynamos the lead from the penalty spot in the sixth minute . Cathal o Shea had the game all level just before the break . Killarney Athletic went out after a tough battle against Clare side Avenue United in extra time . Avenue took a very early lead and it took a 90th minute equaliser from Brian o Reilly to take the game to extra time . Avenue struck for two quick goals before Brian o Reilly saw his penalty kick saved . in the second period Avenue sealed the game with their fourth before Lubo pulled one back for Athletic late on .
Listowel Celtic and Fenit Samphires played out a fantastic game in Tanavalla . Daniel Clinton gave Fenit an early lead which was cancelled out by Bryan Murphy two minutes into the second half . Listowel took the lead thanks to the help of an OG before Ger McCarthy levelled matters from the penalty spot to send the game to extra time . The winning goal was a superb strike and came from Paudie Quinn in the first period of extra time .
Classic FC made the long journey to Dingle and came away with a place in the third round draw . The only goal of the game came from Denis Cosgrove after a fantastic team build up .

Castlegregory Celtic got their first win of the season on Thursday night against AC Athletic . Ian Flynn and Micheal o Dowd put Castlegregory two up at half time before Keith Carmody pulled one back in the second half for AC .
Castleisland B team continued their bright start to the season with a win over St Brendans Park B . Ethan o Connor bagged a brace with one each for Pa o Rourke and Niall Casey . Jason McCoy got St Brendans Park’s only goal .
CSKA Tralee picked up their second win of the season and go joint to of the table with a win over Castlemaine United . Dave Rusk and Anthony Shanahan were the goal scorers for CSKA .

Killorglin B and CG Killarney share the spoils in Killorglin on Sunday evening . John Foley , Johnny Murphy and Michael Beckett were all on the score sheet for CG Killarney who had good performances from Dwayne Griffin , Cian o Neil and Mike o Connell .
Listowel Celtic B team got their season off to a winning start thanks to a Joe Joe Grimes hat trick and one from Molly James McCarthy . Graham O Leary got the only goal for Shanakill Athletic .

Sporting Listowel made it two wins from two on Sunday when they defeated Ballymac Celtic . Thomas McCarthy opened the scoring for Sporting Listowel . Evan Galvin doubled their lead early in the second half . Thomas McCarthy scored his second mid way through the half to seal the three points . Paul Giltrap pulled one back with fifteen minutes remaining for Ballymac Celtic .

Strand Road Fc won their first ever match in the Kerry District League on Friday night against Castlemaine United B team . Gavin McKenna gave Castlemaine the lead which was cancelled out just before half time by Jamie Sheehan Leen . The winning goal came with only five minutes remaining when Milos Avric fired home from 25 yards .
AC Athletic B team got their first win of the season when they defeated Shannon Wanderers on Sunday morning in Ballybunion . Keith Carmody bagged a brace with one coming from Stephen Murphy .
Ballyheigue Athletic moved to the top of the table on Sunday morning with a win against Abhann Li thanks to goals Pa McElligott and Kieran o Connor .

Listowel Celtic bowed out of the FAI U17 cup after they were narrowly beaten in Ennis on Saturday afternoon .

Killarney Celtic hold the early season bragging rights after they easily disposed of neighbours Killarney Athletic in the Munster Youths Cup . Killarney Celtic will now be away against Fenit Samphires in the Kerry area Semi Final . Killarney Celtic goals came from David Carroll , Lee O’Callaghan, Eoin Kennedy, Chris Keane, and Oscar Murphy and Oscar o Connor .

St Brendans Park make it four points from two games when they got passed the challenge of Castlegregory Celtic on Saturday afternoon . After a scoreless first half the visitors pulled away with two goals from Conor Hurley and one each from Donagh O’Brien and Ruairi o Kelly .
Castleisland got their season off to a winning start against Iveragh United . John McMahon scored 2 in first half for Castleisland with John Murphy pulling one back before the half time break .John McMahon completed his hat trick in the second half and Castleisland had further goals from Hugh o Connor , Teddy Welsh and Kieran Griffin . Darren Casey and Neil o Shea also got on the score sheet for Iveragh .
