Tralee Dynamos are the only Kerry side left in this seasons Munster Junior Cup and this Saturday they travel to Cork to face Park United from Mitchelstown in the 5th Round last 16 .
Tralee Dynamos are joint top of KDL Premier A and are still unbeaten after eleven games scoring 31 and only conceding 15 goals . In The Munster Junior Cup they defeated Dingle Bay Rovers away from home by four goals to three . In the second round they defeated Fenit Samphires on a 2-0 score line before beating Tralee rivals St Brendans Park by two goals to one in the third Round Kerry area final . The Fourth round saw Tralee Dynamos travel to Drinagh Rangers in West Cork where the came away with a win thanks a single goal from Jonathan Burrows .
Park United play in the Premier division in the Cork Aul where they at present are bottom of the division as they have only played one league game due to their involvement in many cup competitions . They reached the fifth Round of the FAI Junior Cup where the narrowly went out on a 4-3 score line against Galway Hibs . Park United also reached the final of the Munster Champions Trophy where they defeated Castleisland Afc in the Semi Final . In the final they were defeated by the current FAI and Munster Junior Champions St Michaels from Tipperary .
In this seasons Munster Junior Cup Park United defeated Greenwood B by six goals to nil in the first round before putting seven past Blackston Rovers in the second round . The third round again saw Park United scoring seven against Richmond where the conceded their first goal in this competition . In the fourth round they defeated Riverstown/Brooklodge from the Munster Senior League on a 4-1 score line .
Tralee Dynamos Manager Mark Fitzgerald told me earlier in the week how their season is progressing and how preparations for Saturday have been coming along , ” We had a decent result away from home in the last round and generally things have been going ok. Our league games are coming thick and fast against other top teams in Kerry so that has been keeping us sharp. Overall we would be happy enough with our league campaign to date, that said, we have drawn too many games but we feel we are getting stronger. Park United will be huge favourites going into the match noting they have home advantage, we are aware they have beaten Castleisland in the champions trophy so that’s no mean feat. We expect a tough physical encounter on Saturday and it will take a huge effort to get past them. Cork teams always have good pedigree and prepare really well”.
Davy o Connor from Park United told me how their season has gone so far , ” Park United Afc welcome Tralee dynamos to Brigown Park on this Saturday for a 5th round tie in the Munster Junior Cup. Park Utd because of there involvement in most of the cups they entered have only one league game played to date and these prolonged cup runs will now have a serious congestion of games for this team as the season wears on .With injuries and work commitments we have found it hard to put out the same 11 on a regular basis but come Saturday we are hopeful of been somewhat near full strength. Little is known about our opposition but we know the are top of the pile in the Kerry premier league and that cant be bad .With a place in the quarter final at stake this should be a cracking game and hopefully the weather will hold up which will allow us have our facilities in top condition come the weekend .We were successful against Kerry opposition already this year so who knows maybe lightning does really strike twice
All of Kerry Soccer will be hoping that Tralee Dynamos can continue their run in the competition and advance to the last eight with a win on Saturday .
