Tralee Dynamos are the only Kerry side left in this seasons Munster Junior Cup after the got the better of St Brendans Park in the Kerry area final in December . A full match report from that game can be viewed HERE .
Tralee Dynamos are joint top of KDL Premier A and are still unbeaten after nine games scoring 26 and only conceding 11 goals . In The Munster Junior Cup they defeated Dingle Bay Rovers away from home by four goals to three . In the second round they defeated Fenit Samphires on a 2-0 score line before beating Tralee rivals St Brendans Park by two goals to one in the third Round .
Drinagh Rangers are top in the Premier Division of the West Cork League having won seven of their opening ten games scoring 24 goals and conceding just 6 . They defeated Riverstown/Brooklodge at home in the first round by five goals to nil . The second again gave Drinagh a home tie where the got the better of Cork Eagles PFC by six goals to three . In the third round they defeated Barney United from the Munster Senior League on a 7-1 score line .
Tralee Dynamos Manager Mark Fitzgerald had this to say about their season so far , ” Season has gone well to date with only one loss, that being the 2-1 loss to Killarney Celtic in the FAI junior cup. After taking a few games to settle and get used to laying with some new addition we have found a bit of form. That said we are still conceding silly goals and need to address this” . And looking to Sundays game Mark told me “We expect a very tough game this Sunday away to Drinagh. Anytime you travel to Cork you will need to play really well to come away with anything. Drinagh, noting their form year to date and the fact they are home are clear favourites so we will travel and give our best “.
Chairman for Drinagh Rangers is Don Hurley and he had this to say about Drinagh Rangers and how they feel going into Sundays game , ” We are a small club based half way between Dunmanway and Skibbereen in the middle of West Cork. So far our season has been going well we are currently top of the West Cork League Premier Division by a point with a game in hand over our nearest challengers Clonakilty AFC. Last season we finished second to Skibbereen. We have had a trouble free run to this stage of the Munster Junior Cup as we have received a favourable draw with all our ties at home so far. Sunday’s game will be the biggest test by far for us this season playing the qualifier for the Kerry District League. Last season Skibbereen from West Cork were well beaten 3-0 by Killarney Celtic who were defeated by Tralee last week . So Tralee will be huge favourites but we are undefeated at home this season so we will hopefully give a good account of ourselves. We are looking forward to hosting a Kerry team for the first time and hopefully it will be a good competitive game.
All of Kerry Soccer will be hoping that Tralee Dynamos can continue their run in the competition and advance to the last sixteen with a win on Sunday .
