Kerry’s SSE Airtricity U17 League Season Launches

Tonight at Mounthawk Park Tralee, the Kerry District League officially launched their U17 SSE Season with special guest Pat Duffy from the FAI in front of a very large crowd.

Honorary Secretary Mr John O’Regan said this is a great time for Kerry soccer with the Kerry U17 team being spoke about highly through out the Country since it was announce in January that the League was invited to enter the SSE Airtricity U17 League. Their has been a lot of hard work put in to get this far and it will take a lot of work and patience from Management , Coaches , Players , Parents , Committee members and supporters over the next few months to show what a success this can be. He also thanked Mr Pat Duffy for taking the time to travel to Tralee on a Monday night before finally wishing everyone the very best of luck for the season ahead .

Kerry District League Chairman Sean O’Keeffe thanks John O’Regan for his work and his commitment in making Mounthawk Park available at any time for the teams training sessions over the past 6 weeks . Mr O’Keeffe spoke of how great it was to watch the team play last Saturday in a friendly game against Cobh and how the team seem to be gelling together nicely since coming together less than two months ago. He also thanked the local media for the support and coverage of the Kerry District league before thanking Tommy Naughton for his work on the leagues website and up to date social media pages on Facebook and Twitter . Mr O’Keeffe also thanked Mr Pat Duffy and Mr Fran Gavin who have been very helpful in supporting the league before finally asking clubs and families to urge everyone to come out and support the team on Sunday and at every game during the season.

Pat Duffy spoke about how this was a great night for Kerry soccer and how this group of players are now amongst the elite playing in this league . He encourage the players to embrace and enjoy this opportunity and has no doubt that Kerry can have a very successful season . Pat thanked the league for their continuous work on behalf on the John Giles Foundation before presenting the league with a donation from the John Giles Foundation .

Kerry Manager Brendan Hogan said that Mounthawk Park must now feel like a second home for the players who have so much time their in the past six weeks and the bound they have now very much feels like a family. He thanks the Parents of the players for their help with their commitment over the past few weeks and for the long season ahead. Brendan finished of by naming Darren Loughnane as Vice Captain and Conor Standen as Captain for the first every Kerry team to play in the SSE Airtricity U17 League.

Kerry’s opening game is on Sunday March 20th in Mounthawk Park at 2.00pm against Cork City . The Kerry District League are asking all supporters of Kerry Soccer to come long and support the team on this historic occasion .
