Rattoo Rovers B 3
. It was a game that the away side showed all there experience and stuck to their game plan to put the home side to the sword.
The home side played a lot of good football in the first half but found the Rattoo rear guard in good form, finding it difficult to create any chances with galaxy being limited to a few crosses and shots from range despite the glut of possession.
The opener came from a Rattoo throw in on the left hand side and managed to find it’s was accross the box after a flick only to be poked past galaxy keeper Paul Murphy. Half time 1-0.
In the second half the home side just fizzled out despite the best efforts of mike Murphy and Ger Foley trying to rally the troops and the introduction of Tadgh Ryan and Paul O Donoghue they never really got going again failing to create any openings. Padraig Harrington was a power house in the middle for Rattoo winning everything in the air and red at the back mopping up everything cedar were throwing at him.
The second came after a defensive mix up with keeper caught off his line the ball broke to Rattoo forward who hit a sublime chip into the net and from there the galaxy heads had dropped.
James McCarrick and Dwayne Griffin were trying hard on the right side getting a few balls accross the box but the defence was able to deal with them comfortably.
Eventually another defensive mix up by galaxy allowed the ball to drop to another Rattoo forward who hit an unstoppable effort into the far corner leaving the keeper with no chance from well outside the box.
Best on a bad day for galaxy were Mike Murphy, James McCarrick and Ger Foley. While Rattoo showed an exhibition of route one football getting the three points in what was galaxy’s second home defeat in a row leaving them out of the race for promotion and Rattoo in prime proposition.
