Fenit Samphires claimed the Jimmy Falvey Memorial Youth Cup Title on Sunday afternoon with a comfortable win over Killarney Celtic. In truth the game was over as a contest by half time.
It only took twelve minutes for Fenit Samphires to break the deadlock when Bobby O’Regan fired a free kick from just outside the penalty area that Trevor O’Shea found to hard to handle as he spilled the ball over the goal lie. Minutes late and Fenit doubled their lead when a shot from Bobby O’Regan hit the post and Oisin O’Brien reacted quickest to score from close range.
Killarney Celtic took 30 minutes to get their first shot on target when Stephen McCarthy beat three players but his shot was easily saved by Brian O’Regan. Just before the half time break the game as a contest was over when Fenit were awarder a free kick 30 yards from goal when Bobby O’Regan fired an unstoppable free kick into the bottom corner .
The second half was a dull affair with Fenit controlling the game while Killarney Celtic look short of ideas in how to get back into the game. Just after the hour mark Fenit Samphires extended their lead when a Darren Chester picked out Sean Higgins who beat the last defender before rounding the keeper to score into an empty net. Killarney Celtic did pull a goal back five minutes later when Mark Harnett scored from a Conor McCarthy free however this really didn’t stop Fenit who scored again on the counter attack to when Bobby O’Regan set up Conor Lowe to end the game and send the Youths league and Cup Double to Fenit Samphires .
