Listowel Celtic travel to Wexford on Sunday to face North End United in the last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup after a thrilling win last weekend against Crettyard United . Listowel Celtic Are Kerry’s only side left in the competition and everyone in the league will be hoping their journey continues and they make it into the last 16 . Listowel Celtic are in fifth position in the Premier A division with four wins from their opening seven games and just the one defeat this season scoring 20 and conceding just 9 goals . In This seasons FAI Junior Cup they received a bye in the first round before they defeated Fenit Samphires 3-2 after extra time in the second round . The third round again saw Listowel Celtic needing extra time to get passed Shannon Olympic by two goals to one . In the fourth round they had a huge away win in Tralee against St Brendans Park when they won on an 8-3 score line . The fifth round saw Listowel Celtic host Knockainey Fc from the Limerick District League where Listowel came out on top in extra time on a 3-2 score line . Again in the sixth round the game had to be decided in extra time when Listowel Celtic had to come from behind twice against Crettyard United before Bryan Murphy scored the only goal in extra time .
North End United had a great victory over Limerick giants Pike Rovers in the last round and will be looking to make it to the last eight for the fourth time in their clubs history . At present they are in fourth place in the Wexford Premier league where they are unbeaten after eight league games and just like Listowel Celtic they have many games in hand over the teams above them in the league standings .
North End United are managed by John Godkin and earlier in the week he told me about North End United and how they are looking for to Sundays big game , ” North End United Club was formed in 1970 and caters for all levels of football ( schoolboys/ Schoolgirls and Junior ). The Team plays in Wexford Premier division and are current league and cup holders. We have only played 8 games in the current league campaign with 6 wins and 2 draws due to FAI and Leinster cup commitments. Preparations for the game are hindered a little with a few key injuries due to the high number of competitive games recently. The club looks forward to welcoming Listowel Celtic and its supporters to Wexford this coming Sunday. Our team captain is Jason Murphy, Our Manager is John Godkin and is assisted by John Foley and Denis Carthy. In the clubs history we have reached 3 previous 1/4 final places the last one being in 2010.
