Tralee Dynamos and Inter Kenmare must meet again to see who will be crowned the Denny Ladies League Champions after a very entertaining draw in Mounthawk Park . This also was the first ever game to be played on the new state of the art all-weather pitch.

In what was to be a very exciting and entertaining game a draw at the end seemed to be the fairest result. The game was only nine minutes old when we had the first ever goal to be scored on the new pitch at that honour went to Natasha O’Sullivan from Tralee Dynamos. Sarah Baeur delivered a long free kick into the danger area where Inter Kenmare keeper Nora Mai O’Brien came to gather but under severe pressure the ball fell from her grasp and Natasha O’Sullivan pounced to finish home to give Tralee Dynamos the lead.
The lead didn’t last long and within four minutes Inter Kenmare struck for the equaliser when Karina O’Connor flicked a ball in behind the Dynamos defence to the on rushing Michelle O’Sullivan who rolled the ball passed the advancing keeper. Inter Kenmare nearly went in front midway through the first half with a long ball over the top by Ann Marie O’Donoghue found Laura O’Sullivan whose first time effort lobbed the keeper but hit the side netting. Natasha O’Sullivan nearly grabbed her second with a well struck effort which Nora Mai O’Brien did well to hold on to low at her near post.
On the half hour mark Inter Kenmare took the lead when Michelle O’Sullivan played a wonderful through ball into the path of Laura O’Sullivan who fired a shot into the far corner giving Elaine Baily in the Tralee Dynamos goal no chance. Ten minutes to the break and Dynamos had to thank their keeper who denied Karina O’Connor when the striker broke through one on one with the keeper. The final chance of the first half fell to Tralee Dynamos when Sarah Baeur delivered a free kick from the left wing which found its way to Natasha O’Sullivan whose first time volley was deflected just past the post for a corner . From the resulting corner by Orla Cannon rose highest and just headed over the top.

The second started with Tralee Dynamos making two changes and the opening chances of the half fell to Megan Power O’Brien whose effort was just wide of the near post and Natasha O’Sullivan whose shot was saved by Nora Mai O’Brien. Inter Kenmare then extended their lead in the 53rd minute when a long free from Ann Marie O’Donoghue seemed to be heading over the end line but some how Michelle O’Sullivan managed to hook the ball back over everyone and drop over the line to give them a two goal lead. This two goal lead lasted less than a minute thanks to a goal from the hard working Megan Power O’Brien who dispossessed a Kenmare defender and beat the keeper from a very tight angle. Ten minutes later and the game was all square and again it was Megan Power O’Brien who scored. This time a though ball by Sarah Bauer was intended for Breda Slattery only for Geraldine Cahalane to deny her with a great tackle , however the ball rolled passed the advancing keeper and in to the past of O’Brien who made no mistake from twelve yards out.
Both sides were giving their all and at this stage it looked as if the next goal would win it . With fourteen minutes remaining the next goal came and it was for Inter Kenmare. Laura O’Sullivan beat two players before shooting n goal from just inside the penalty area , the shot was only partially blocked and rolled into the path of Karina O’Connor who score from close range. This looked as if was to be the winner until the 87th minute when a corner from Denise Minnock was delivered high into the danger area where Ann Marie O’Donoghue raised a hand to the ball. Referee Kevin Cunningham quickly pointed to the penalty spot and produced a straight red card for the defender . Natasha O’Sullivan made no mistake with the penalty kick to send the game to a replay in the coming weeks.
