Celsius Menswear League Cup 1st Round

 

Classic Fc 1-3 Killarney Celtic

Last Seasons Premier B champions Classic Fc took on last seasons Denny Premier A champions Killarney Celtic in the opening game of the 2019/20 season at Mounthawk Park on Friday night. Adam O’Rourke opened the scoring for Killarney Celtic in his first competitive game for them before Jesse O’Sullivan levelled the game for Classic Fc. Killarney Celtic pushed on for the win when Adam got his second and Conor McCarthy also got on the score line. Killarney Celtic will again be away in the second round where they will face Killorglin A who received a bye in the first round.

Castlemaine Utd 0-1 Castleisland Afc

Castlemaine United from Denny Division 1B hosted Premier A side Castleisland A on Sunday morning in Castlemaine. Both side had numerous chances in a very open encounter with the only goal of the game coming in the 75th minute from Cathal O’Donoghue. Castleisland Afc will travel to Woodlawn in Round 2 to face fellow Denny Premier A side Killarney Athletic who defeated AC Athletic in the first round.

Killarney Celtic B 2-0 Strand Road Fc

Killarney Celtic will have two sides in the second round after their B team defeated Strand Road Fc who are division below them at Celtic Park on Sunday Morning. Terry Sparling gave Killarney Celtic a first half lead which was added to with a goal from Pierce Lyne Roberts midway through the second half. Killarney Celtic B will travel to Samphire Park where they will face Premier A side Fenit Samphires in Round two.

Castlegregory Celtic 3-0 Asdee Rovers

In the all Denny Division 1A clash between Castlegregory Celtic and Asdee Rovers on Sunday morning the home side advanced to the next round. Brandon Hoare scored all three goals for Castlegregory and became the first player this season to score a hat trick. Castlegregory Celtic will be away to CS Abbeydorney in Round two after they defeated Tralee Dynamos B.

Tralee Dynamos B 4-5 CS Abbeydorney

Extra time and a nine goal thriller took place between two Denny Division 2A sides before CS Abbeydorney secured their place in the next round at the expense of Tralee Dynamos B. David Townsend scored twice for Tralee Dynamos with Niall Sertutxa and Brendan Coffey getting one each while Ronan O’Donovan scored twice for CS Abbeydorney with  Stevie O’Sullivan, and Shane O’Donovan getting on the scoresheet to send the gale to extra time. Oisin Murphy was they hero for CS Abbeydorney with his extra time winner to set up a meeting with Castlegregory Celtic in Round 2.

Rattoo Rovers 7-2 MEK Galaxy

Rattoo Rovers from Denny Premier B where the only team to defeat a team from a division above the this weekend when they defeated MEK Galaxy from Denny Premier A. Kevin Goulding was the weekends top scorer when he bagged four goals with Liam Boyle, Padraig Boyle and Mikey Boyle all getting one goal each. Tadhg Fleming and John Foley got the goals for MEK Galaxy in a tough day at Ballyduff for the newly promoted Premier A side.

Castleisland B 1-3 Tralee Dynamos A

Denny Premier A side Tralee Dynamos A defeated Denny Premier B side Castleisland B at Georgie O’Callaghan Park on Sunday afternoon to advance to the second round. Tralee Dynamos had goals from Eoin Cassidy, Aseged Woldemariam and Ilear Sahiti while Dylan Browne was the goal scorer for Castleisland B. Tralee Dynamos will face Ballyheigue Athletic in the second round at Mounthawk Park.

AC Athletic 3-4 Killarney Athletic

A seven goal thriller at Mounthawk Park saw Denny Premier A side Killarney Athletic defeat Denny Premier B side AC Athletic. AC Athletic took an early lead before finding themselves behind by 4 goal to 1 . However a strong finish by AC Athletic saw the Premier A side hanging on for the win and a place in the next round. David Egan scored twice for AC Athletic with  Joseph Diggins getting one while Killarney Athletic can thank Tony Brosnan who scored a hat trick and one from Danny Healy. Killarney Athletic will host Castleisland A in the next round.
