Kerry DL

Kerry have advanced for their second national final of the season after a penalty shootout win against Athlone Town on Saturday. Colin Walsh opened the scoring midway through the first half from the penalty spot. Athlone Town levelled the game with seventeen minutes remaining and with neither side able to grab a winner the game was to be decided on penalties. Both sides scored their first two penalties before Dylan Doona became the hearo. Dylan produced three fantastic penalty saves in a row to book Kerry’s place in the Shield Final. The final is to take place on Saturday November 2nd at Mounthawk Park Tralee against Sligo Rovers with a kick off time of 5pm. This will be Kerry’s last game in the 2019 Airtricity League season so hopefully we will see yet another huge crowd at this game.

FAI Oscar Traynor Trophy

Kerry DL 0-0 Limerick Desmond

Kerry DL started their Oscar Traynor Trophy campaign off with a draw on Sunday against the Limerick Desmond League. Nether side created much chances in the opening 45 minutes. The Kerry management will be happier with how Kerry took the game to their opposition in the early stages of the second half but at the same time they lacked that killer finish in front of goal and in the end a draw was probably a fair result. Kerry remaining games will be away to the Clare League and home to the Limerick District League in a group that will see the top two sides advance to the quarter final stage.
