Killarney Celtic will be the only side in the last 64 open draw for the FAI Junior Cup after they defeated Granagh United of the Desmond League on Sunday afternoon. Stephen McCarthy opened the scoring from the penalty spot midway through the first half. Second half goals from Gary Keane and Adam O’Rourke booked Celtics place in Round 5.

Carrig Celtic | 3-2 | Killarney Athletic | ![]() |
Desmond League side Carrig Celtic came from behind to knock Killarney Celtic out of this seasons FAI Junior Cup. William Courtney opened the scoring for Killarney Athletic which is a lead they held until the final quarter of the game when Carrig scored three unanswered goals. Shane Lynch did pull a goal back with two minutes remaining but it wasn’t enough as Carrig held of for the win.

Denny Premier A side Listowel Celtic A team travelled to Killorglin on Sunday morning and booked their place in the quarter finals of the Celsius Menswear League Cup. Dylan Carey was the goal scorer for Killorglin B. Ashley Kelliher scored four goals for the Premier A side with Joe Joe Grimes getting 2.

Classic FC made it two wins from three in Denny Premier A on Friday night against Fenit Samphires at Mounthawk Park. In truth how this finished with only one goal is beyond belief. Fenit Started the better and brought three outstanding saves out of Shane Foley before they were then to be denied by the crossbar. As the half developed Classic grew into the game and Martin Sweeney should have scored from close range but somehow missed the target. Midway through the second half Classic FC took the lead with a goal of the season contender. Ray Walsh picked up the ball just inside the Fenit half on the left wing before cutting inside and firing a dipping curling drive from thirty yards that gave the keeper no chance going in off the underneath of the crossbar. Fenit were to be denied a point late on when David Courtney’s low drive came back off the post with the keeper for once beaten.

Castleisland Afc made it two league wins from two on Sunday afternoon against MEK Galaxy at the Dragons Den Killorglin. The only goal of the game was scored by Tommy Feehan when his corner sailed always the ways to the back of the net in the opening forty five minutes.

AC Athletic | 5-4 | QPR | ![]() |
AC Athletic made it two league wins from two on Saturday night at Mounthawk Park against QPR . QPR started the brightest and were two nil up before Jason Diggins pulled a goal back before half time. AC Athletic made the better start to the second half and took the lead when they scored three unanswered goals from Aodhan Shanahan, Joseph Diggins and Gavin Dooley. QPR pulled a goal back to make it 4-3 but Joseph Diggins grabbed his second to extend Athletics lead again. AC Athletic held on for the three points even with QPR scoring late into injury time. QPR goal scorers were Tadhg Mahoney with two goals and one each from Shane Reen and James Dennehy.

Ballyhar moved up to joint third place after a single goal home win on Sunday morning against Killorglin Afc. James O’Donoghue scored the only goal of the game on the hour mark but Ballyhar can thank keeper Maurice O’Donoghue who saved a penalty in the final minute.

Castleisland B and Camp United share the spoils at Georgie O’Callaghan Park on Sunday morning in a game that saw the home side come from behind three times over the ninety minutes. Barry Lynch got the first goal for Castleisland with Pa O’Rourke getting the other two goals. Jason Hickson, Eamonn Hickson and Gene Farrell got the goals for Camp United who remain unbeaten after three games.

Castlegregory Celtic moved to the top of the Division on Friday night against Atletico Ardfert at Mounthawk Park. Steven Speirs opened the scoring midway through the first half but the was cancelled out five minutes before the break by Steven Power. Second half goals from Brandon Hoare and Maurice Slattery sealed the win for Castlegregory who now have six points from their opening three games.

St Brendans Park got their first win of the season on Saturday night at Mounthawk Park against a young Dingle Bay Rovers side. Three first half goals from Padraig McCannon, Aaron Ward and Mervyn Shalemba put the Park in full control of this game. Oisin Maunsell pulled a goal back for Dingle in the second half before Mervyn Shalemba grabbed his second late in the game.

Listowel Celtic B team are joint top of the division after a single goal win at Pat Kennedy Park against Strand Roan on Sunday morning. The only goal of the game came from Conor O’Brien early in the second half after a great through ball from Aidan Quinn.

Ballymac Celtic moved up to fourth place after they took all three points from Kenmare on Sunday afternoon. Dean O’Connell opened the scoring for Ballymac which the took into the half time break. Daniel Taylor levelled the game for Inter Kenmare with a powerful header in the early stages of the second half. Christy Leen put Ballymac ahead again when they scored on the courter attack but this lead didn’t last long as Kenmare were levelled with the aid of an OG with less than twenty minutes remaining. Inter Kenmare had a great chance to go in front but Ballymac keeper made a superb penalty save to keep the game in the balance. With less than five minutes remaining Ballymac got the winner when a Jack O’Shea strike beat the keeper from just outside the penalty area.

Going into this game both sides had played four and won four so this was always going to be a close affair. Cathal Moriarty opened the scoring in the first half with a well executed free kick from 25 yards out. Early in the second half Jerome Flynn got on the score line when he spotted the keeper of his line and floated the ball over him to find the back of the net. Castlemaine saw out the remainder of the game and despite a lot of pressure CS Clochain Breanainn could not find the break through. That makes it five league wins from five for Castlemaine United .

Classic Fc B are up to third place after the defeated Windmill united for the second time this season on Sunday morning at Mounthawk Park. Brendan Smith scored the opening goal of the game in the first half but the points were secured midway through the second half when Danny Feehan scored from close range.

The joint leaders in the division couldn’t be separated on Sunday in Ballyduff and both remain unbeaten after four matches. Dylan Moriarty was the scorer for Rattoo Rovers with James Long again getting the goal for Mainebank which makes it 5 league goals in four games.

Kilflynn City claimed the win on Sunday morning at Mounthawk Park when both sides fielded completely different sides from those who faced each other on Monday night.

AC Athletic B moved up to third place on Monday night when they came from behind to defeat Classic FC C team at Mounthawk Park. Alan O’Shea put Classic ahead midway through the first half. AC Athletic had the game level at half time before going on to score two more goals in the second half with Darragh Shanahan, Kieran Young and Fergus Carroll getting the goals.

FAI Youth Cup 2nd Round

St Brendans Park moved into the 3rd round of the FAI Youth Cup on Friday night when they got passed the challenge of Fenit Samphires. Mervyn Shalemba scored both goals for the Park which made it four in total this weekend as he scored two more twenty four hours later for the senior side. St Brendans Park will host St Marys from Cork in the next round.

Killarney Celtic claimed the bragging rights in the Killarney derby against Killarney Athletic but it needed extra time to separate these two sides. Dylan O’Callaghan scored twice for Celtic with James Darmody and Padraic Looney getting one each. Celtic will be away to Galway side Bearna Na Forbacha or Moyne Villa in round three.

Killorglin Afc made it two wins from two on Saturday in Cahersiveen against Iveragh United who were playing in the first U17 game in many years. Dylan Moriarty scored twice for Killorglin with Simon Coffey getting one. Jack Donnelly has the honour of becoming the first player to score for Iveragh United this season.

Ballyheigue Athletic made it three wins from three games against Rattoo Rovers on Saturday at Mounthawk Park. Dara Kearney, Gavin Slattery, Dylan Godley and Felim O’Sullivan got the goals for Ballyheigue Athletic. Darragh Quinlan and Ronan Walsh were the scorers for Rattoo Rovers.
