The top two sides in Denny Division 2B Ballyheigue Athletic and AC Athletic B meet on Sunday afternoon to see who will be crowned the League Champions.
Ballyheigue Athletic who finished top of the division in their first season in the Kerry District League under the guidance of manager Michael Leane were the first team to have secured a place in any league final this season. After 16 league games they managed to win 13 , drew 2 and only lost on one occasion . In the sixteen games they scored 56 goals and only conceded 16 goals .
AC Athletic for the first time entered a B team into the Kerry District league and it has turned out to a great success for the club . The team are managed by Eamonn Fitzgerald and Mark Walshe and they have done an great job having to juggle the two squads together through out the season . This season In their 16 league games they 12 wins , 2 draws and 2 defeats while scoring 54 and conceding 20 goals along the way .
Looking at the stats of the season their seems to be very little between the sides with Ballyheigue having finished three points ahead of AC Athletic and having scored 2 more goals and conceded four less . The two league meetings were very different this season with the first in Mounthawk Park in September finishing in a scoreless draw with the next meeting in Ballyheigue in saw the home side on a four nil score line .
While Ballyheigue might go into the game as slight favourites after finishing top of the division maybe the experience of some of the AC Athletic B players who won Division 1B last season with their A team might be enough to get them over the line but don’t be surprised if it takes another 90 minutes to separated these two sides .
