Tralee Celtic put down a marker for the season ahead with a great performance against Classis Fc B team on Friday night in Mounthawk Park . After an entertaining first half which saw the sides going in all square the game was over as a contest fifteen minutes into the second half as Tralee Celtic seemed to have found their scoring boots during the half time break .
Tralee Celtic had the opening chance of the match when Fergal Moynihan set up Fiachra Dunne whose snap shot drifted across the face of the goal and wide . James Galvin tested Gary Moriarty in the Tralee Celtic goal with a well stuck effort that the keeper had to go full stretch to tip over the bar at the expense of a corner . On the fifteen minute mark Steven o Mahony picked out the run of Stephen o Sullivan whose header was somehow touched onto the post by the outstretched hand of Pa Bailey and he quickly reacted to gather the ball before it crossed over the goal line . Michael Prendiville was next to go close but he shot over from inside the penalty area after the ball had dropped to him from a Fiachra Dunne corner . Classic were struggling to hold onto possession even with some good work from Kieran o Regan , James Galvin and Shane Flaherty . Pa Bailey was again called into action with ten minutes to the break to deny a swerving effort from Gary o Connor . The final chance of the first half saw Tralee Celtic quickly counter attack Classic Fc corner , Fergal Moynihan broke from his own half cut inside from the right wing evading two defenders but saw his effort from just outside the penalty area saved again by Pa Bailey .
The second half was only minutes old when Fergal Moynihan showed great feet inside the box before puling the ball back to the onrushing Fiachra Dunne who made no mistake this time to finally break the deadlock . Tralee Celtic doubled their lead ten minutes later after a great solo goal which ended with Fergal Moynihan drilling a left footed shot into the far corner giving the keeper no chance . Tralee Celtic were now in cruise control and made it three nil on the hour mark when a long clearance by Derek o Connor was flicked goal wards by Fergal Moynihan where Steven o Mahony was on hand to round the keeper to roll the ball home . Jamie Blake was only on the pitch two minutes when he made it four nil . Stephen o Sullivan then got on the score sheet with eighteen minutes remaining when he got on the end of a Fiachra Dunne cross . The scoring was finished of by Steven o Mahony with only minutes remaining . Classic Fc nearly got a consolation goal in the final minute but Padraig Breen saw his effort come back of the crossbar with the keeper beaten .
